i-Game

The i-Game project (https://igameproject.eu/) is funded by the European Union (Horizon Europe), and aims to create an accessible and inclusive platform for the design and development of open-source games. i-Game will co-design a set of tools and guidelines that will allow persons from underrepresented groups (i.e. women, people with disabilities, older, people with low digital literacy, people from minorities) to build and market their own inclusive games, as opposed to being considered the end-users.

The i-Game project will engage diverse stakeholders in the co-creation, specifically from the cultural and creative sectors and industries (CCIs), game industry and general population interested in creating or using educational games, to enhance innovation with a positive impact on social cohesion and sustainability.

Raising the Floor’s Role

Raising the Floor has a transversal role throughout the project and specifically leads the work related to:

  • Context and needs analysis of the current game ecosystem through the use of desk and field research, at national, EU and global levels.
  • Ecosystemic impact generated by the project, through the application of quantitative (SROI) and qualitative (ToC) methodologies.
  • Impact and policy recommendations to foster effective inclusive policies and practices at EU level regarding gaming for inclusion, creativity and lifelong learning, in museum and cultural institutions, and especially within textile & fashion sectors.
  • Ethical and legal analysis (IT law) from the specific perspective of the impact of game design on individuals and society.
  • Understanding the player’s types, and identifying the user’s requirements while mapping them within the accessible game design.
  • Facilitating co-creation methodologies and complementary documentation on experience design.
  • Supporting the implementation of a community that acts as a hub where different stakeholders are linked via diverse, accessible, ethical, and inclusive activities, channels, ambassadors, rewards for the sake of innovation through games.
  • Creating toolkits for co-creation and design via an academy.
  • Legal analysis as to the IP law aspects of the co-creation model.
