GPII at American Library Association Conference

The recent American Library Association (ALA) conference featured several presentations and discussions of GPII. Jane Berliss Vincent, RtF's stakeholder manager for libraries and public access points, delivered talks and demos of GPII-based services that would be of particular interest to libraries: the ability to serve any patron who comes in the door, using cloud-based technologies tailored for each user through their personal profile, economizing on staff time and investment in special equipment or software. Librarians were enthusiastic about GPII and asked questions about compatibility, privacy, timetable, and cost. As we extend our relationship with ALA we hope to work with the organization and its members on early trials.

ALA is no stranger to accessibility -- for many years it has hosted several internal groups that share information about policies, staff development, and tech solutions; Carrie Russell of the Washington office is taking the lead on coordinating accessibility activities within ALA.
