Coleman Institute Hosts Roundtable on Cloud Computing

The Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities in partnership with the Administration on Developmental Disabilities and the CU Law School's Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship, hosted a one-day "Roundtable on Implications of Cloud Computing for Residential Supports and Services". The October 12 event was attended by people with cognitive disabilities and their families, service providers, researchers, advocates, program managers, and other leaders and experts. The purpose of the event was to continue a dialogue on how cloud-based technologies like GPII could address the residential needs of people with cognitive disabilities, in the context of rapid technological evolution and tighter budgets. The Institute will release a report on the Roundtable, which raised issues of autonomy, privacy, security, and how cloud technologies could increase choices for residence, employment, and overall inclusion.
