American Foundation for the Blind Endorses GPII
American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) has endorsed GPII and will help RtF "build a strong partnership that can offer specific assistance on consumer participation and policy development." The letter of support, from Paul W. Schroeder, AFB's Vice President for Programs and Policy, expresses AFB's recognition that "a global approach will be needed to make accessible technology available to all who need it, no matter where they are or what equipment they are using" and that "GPII [is] an important research and development effort to bring millions of people who are blind or have low vision into full technological participation."
AFB is a long-time contributor to the field of accessible technology, performing expert accessibility evaluations of consumer products and publishing them in AccessWorld, maintaining a database of assistive technology products, and participating in many accessible technology advisory bodies and policy initiatives.
We look forward to working with AFB. We welcome the support and participation of all advocacy organizations as a key component of RtF's principle of staying close to the user.
