$10 million for "Access through Cloud Computing" included in US 2012 budget just released by the White House.
A line item titled "Access through Cloud Computing" for 10 million dollars was included in the 2012 budget just released by the White House. The description for the budget line item reads "Funds would support a cloud computing initiative to improve Internet and technology access for individuals who face technology accessibility barriers due to disability." This is directly in sync with the Raising the Floor Consortium's efforts to create a Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure for accessibility and is believed to be in direct response to the industry - consumer - academic efforts to gain bipartisan support for this effort in the United States. This would join funding commitments from Europe and Canada and expand the original support for this concept from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), US Dept. of Education.
